Through dance, poetry, and stunning characterization, Uýra boldly confronts historical racism, transphobia, and environmental destruction, while emphasizing the interdependence of humans and the environment.

Featured storytellers include a Netflix dating show celebrity, a millennial comedian/filmmaker, a celebrated Austin playwright, a journalist turned mosaic artist, a writer & tarot card reader, a retired Navy Chief, and an 82-year old Vietnamese American grandmother. 

This summer Austin Cinemaker Space welcomes a new documentary screening series, Hot Takes, presented by the National Center for Transgender Equality, POV on PBS, Kind Clinic & aGLIFF. The series is programmed by Illyana Bocanegra and Courtney Cook.

You are Me & I am follows Carmen Cumba, an indigenous midwife in the High Sierras of Ecuador who despite many hardships and obstacles has dedicated her life to helping the women of her community both as an Ancestral medicine practitioner and as an advocate for equality for her fellow midwives in Ecuador.

This free & open to the public event will feature a screening of two films about death penalty and the families that are affected by it. There will also be an exhibition featured of incredible artwork created by people currently on death row which is entitled "Love, From Death Row".

ATX local dance company, BLiPSWiTCH, and filmmaker Maggie M. Bailey are proud to present a special sneak peek preview of Bailey’s feature-length directorial debut, Moving Together. This documentary is a celebratory love letter to music and dance that brims with kinetic life and energy. The film explores the process of dance and the intricate collaboration between dancers and musicians, moving seamlessly between Flamenco, Modern, and New Orleans Second Line. Featured artists include Jesse Zaritt, Michael Wall, Michelle N. Gibson, Thaddeus Ford, Isaí Chacón, and Olivia Chacón.

The screening will be preceded by a short dance performance from Isaí and Olivia Chacón's company A'lante Flamenco.
