Before Enrolling: Please review the details of each class to confirm any prerequisites or skill-level specifications. We pride ourselves on making filmmaking accessible to all, with many classes tailored specifically for individuals with minimal to no prior experience in the field.
Class Size: Our award-winning classes are small in size to cater and mimic filmmaking in the field. Classes fill up quickly, and registration closes 48 hours before the start time if any spots remain.
How can I start a payment plan: Email us to inquire about a custom payment plan at classes@austinfilmschool.org. We require 50% of the tuition upfront and can divide the remaining balance in up to 2 equal payments.

16mm Tactile Filmmaking (Haunting Holiday/Surrealist Edition) — beginner friendly
DECEMBER 7, 2025 (Saturday) 〰 10:00am - 2:00pm CST
This in-person analog film and tactile filmmaking class is suitable for all levels, especially those new to filmmaking, art, or interested in analog techniques. It’s a low-pressure workshop where students explore a thematic approach to tactile filmmaking, learning how to manipulate analog film to create abstract experimental images.

EXPERIMENTAL FILMMAKING II

This in-person experimental media class is project-based, students must have completed Avant Garde & Experimental Filmmaking class prior to enrollment. The focus of this course is creation of media installation and immersive experimental media experiences.

This in-person analog filmmaking class is project-based, tailored for beginners with no experience shooting motion picture film and welcomes experienced digital filmmakers/photographers. It covers shooting, developing, and digitizing motion picture film. Open to students 16 and older, no prior experience is required. Beginners welcome!

AVANT-GARDE & EXPERIMENTAL FILMMAKING (BEGINNER FRIENDLY)
MARCH 25 - MAY 13, 2025 (Tuesdays) 〰 6:30-9:30pm CST
This in-person analog production course delves into experimental cinema, guiding students through the process of creating a fully analog (Super 8) experimental short film from start to finish. If you're eager to learn about experimental filmmaking, craft your own short film, and master the fundamentals of analog filmmaking—including shooting, developing, and editing—this is the perfect introductory course! Open to students ages 18 and older, no previous film or art experience is required.

Confirmation Email: Shortly after signing up, you should receive a confirmation email. This email may contain important details such as class dates, times, and any initial instructions.
Class Reminder: Reminder emails for all classes are sent 1 business day before the class begins, it is important to list the correct email address when sign up to receive this information.
Course Syllabus: Instructors often provide a detailed syllabus outlining the topics covered, assignments, and other relevant information. This might be distributed on the first day of class or beforehand.
Communication from the Instructor: Your instructor may send out emails or messages with important details regarding the class. Keep an eye on your inbox for any communications from them.
How Do I get a Certificate of Completion? Austin School of Film classes are certified with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to provide Continue Professional Educational (CPE) credits. Certificates of Completion are available upon request.
