Join us for a comprehensive course on audio podcast production & audio storytelling, suitable for all levels of experience and open to anyone interested in podcasting. No prior experience is necessary!

In this course, you will:

  • Learn the basics of crafting compelling audio stories

  • Discover interviewing techniques for podcasts

  • Master the technical aspects of creating high-quality audio content

  • Explore how podcasts can go beyond traditional formats

Led by Podcast Producer Myrriah Gossett, this course covers pre-production, gear selection, recording techniques, audio editing, and distribution. You will work hands-on with audio assets and software, receiving real professional feedback.

Topics include:

  • Gear essentials

  • Industry-standard software and practices

  • Podcast conceptualization

  • Pre-production, planning, and project management

  • Production pipeline

  • Recording setups: home vs. studio

  • Audio editing, mixing, and mastering

  • Distribution platforms

  • Audience tracking

Participants will have access to:

  • Audio assets pack

  • iMac workstation with software for the duration of the course

  • Project-based learning

  • PDF resource guide

  • Real professional feedback

Prerequisite: Strong computer literacy skills

This course will be held at the Austin School of Film in our iMac computer lab, with all materials, equipment, software, and computers provided for the duration of the class.

HOW CAN I START A PAYMENT PLAN?

Anyone is eligible for a payment plan for any class if they need it! Email us to get started on a payment plan at classes@austinfilmschool.org. We require 50% of the tuition cost at registration and can divide the remaining balance in up to 2 additional equal payments.

ABOUT THE EDUCATOR

Myrriah Gossett (she/they) is an independent media producer based in Austin, TX, and Los Angeles, CA. With a BFA in Art History from Savannah College of Art and Design and an MS in Media Management from The New School, Myrriah brings a unique blend of creative and strategic skills to her work.

Myrriah is passionate about color-coded spreadsheets, story breakdowns, and producing challenging narratives. Known for their fearlessness in asking for what they need and their ability to hike backwards while recording audio, Myrriah is always ready to take on new projects.

Myrriah's recent projects include "FOGO: Fear of Going Outside" for Spotify Studios, "BEING" with Lemonada Media, BedPost Confessions Live Show and Podcast, and "Don't Tell My Mother LIVE" at Dynasty Typer Writer.


Who Should Attend:

  • Those interested in learning more about the ins and outs of podcast production and audio storytelling.

Certificate:

  • Austin School of Film (ASOF) Digital Video Certificate elective class.

Pre-requisites:

  • None. All levels welcome. 18+ only.

Supplies:

  • All provided including audio gear for the duration of the workshop.

Certification:

  • This course, along with all Austin School of Film courses, is certified by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to provide Continuing Professional Educational (CPE) credits.
