Intro to Super 8 Filmmaking
Super 8 has made a bold return in contemporary filmmaking, reclaiming its place as a go-to medium for artists and creators seeking texture, warmth, and emotional immediacy.
From Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour visuals and Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For? to indie films at Sundance and fashion campaigns by Gucci and Jacquemus, Super 8 is no longer just a throwback—it’s a creative choice. Whether used in music videos, editorial shoots, wedding films, or experimental shorts, this analog format channels an aesthetic that feels intimate, handmade, and timeless.
It’s not just nostalgic—it’s intentional. Super 8 brings cinematic imperfection into the present, offering a visual language that’s raw, expressive, and undeniably a vibe.
Our Intro to Super 8 Filmmaking workshop offers a hands-on crash course in one of the most iconic analog formats in cinema history—designed for beginners, curious creatives, and digital natives ready to explore the tactile magic of film.
In this immersive session, students learn the essentials: how to choose the right Super 8 camera, load and shoot film, and navigate the quirks that make analog so rewarding. We’ll cover everything from exposure and framing to developing your own film, splicing reels, and digitizing footage for modern editing workflows.
With class sizes capped at just 8 participants, each student gets personalized instruction and direct access to equipment, film stock, and processing resources. Whether you're looking to experiment, build new technical skills, or rediscover the roots of cinema, this course offers a rare opportunity to engage with film as a living, breathing art form.
