CREATE TOGETHER

CREATE TOGETHER is an offline/online youth program created in direct response to the ongoing global pandemic. We want to keep youth & families using creative media & film to build skills, artistic expression, and creating meaningful work.

Our camp features 46 workshops, lessons, screenings, and interactive talks exploring subjects such as film production, creative media, animation, SFX, storytelling/screenwriting, lighting, micro documentaries, experimental filmmaking, found footage films, and so much more

Each participant registered will get access to a full catalog of virtual workshops & events and bonus: a curated package delivered straight to your door filled with the supplies, tools, and other goodies needed to create with us at home.

This program will feature professional educators, filmmakers, animators, and media makers from around the United States. Typically, barriers such as this are difficult due to travel expenses and lodging.

This is a once in a lifetime experience we're offering to emerging youth creators near & far.

The way the program is structured, it gives families the flexibility to pick & choose which workshops they'd like to build into their schedule. No virtual workshop/event will exceed two hours in duration. 

This virtual program creates an active creative learning experience where you will participate & interact with both your teacher and classmates, and create new meaningful work.

Camp will run July 6 - 31 [Mon-Sat] ✌︎ Open to youth & teens ages 7 - 17

CAMP DETAILS:

• Deadline to register for CREATE TOGETHER is June 30. 

• Tuition is a flat rate of $300 and covers all the events you want attend!

  It is open to youth ages 7-17 years old located in the United States. (PSST...Unfortunately, due to the creative media package mailed to you —we cannot host international students at this time.)

• This is a total of 46 virtual workshops & events offered to youth exploring subjects such as film production, creative media, animation, SFX, storytelling/screenwriting, lighting, micro documentaries, experimental filmmaking, found footage films, and so much more.
  

CAMP SCHEDULE:

• Programming will run July 6 - July 31, 2020 (Monday - Saturday).

• The full workshop schedule will be released on June 15, 2020, and there is room for every person registered to RSVP for any and all programming.

• You can customize your schedule to fit your interests and daily life.
  

WHAT YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE:

All participants will need access to a computer or tablet, internet, and, for select workshops, any type of digital camera (phone/tablet camera preferred). 

WHAT WE PROVIDE

• All creative media packages mailed directly to your door, which will include tools & supplies needed to complete the projects. 

• Access to free trials to creative media software for the duration of the workshop if it pertains to lesson.
  

INCLUDED IN YOUR TUITION

• 30 workshops led by industry professionals from all over the USA spanning subject such as film production, animation, analog filmmaking, prop building, editing, photography, digital art, creative code, and creative media specifically designed for a virtual experience. 

• 15 events led by pro filmmaker & media creators including interactive talks & mini screenings with special guests 

• a uniquely crafted package delivered straight to your door for each camper registered! Each package includes: film, animation, and interactive media kits to complete the workshops (i.e the tools & supplies), an exclusive tee, and other goodies that will be released soon.

• a digital showcase of all work completed at the end of the summer beginning on July 31 with some special surprises for campers.

⚡️ WORKSHOPS are hands-on project based learning. Students will learn LIVE in real streaming virtual lessons with fellow youth students & educators from all over the US. They are encouraged to continue projects offline & submit any completed work for our final virtual exhibition at the end of the month. 

⚡️ INTERACTIVE TALKS & EVENTS feature guest filmmakers, animators, and industry creatives sharing their expertise through interactive round tables, live interviews, and fun lectures. Youth will be able to ask them questions directly and interact with each other. 

⚡️ SCREENINGS will include short film showcases with filmmakers & guests. Think of these as going to the movies with extra perks of meeting the creators, participating in a Q&A and never even having to leave the house!

All events (including screenings) will take place on ZOOM. You’ll never have to leave the application to learn, connect, and create!

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE CREATIVE MEDIA PACKAGE AND WHEN WILL IT BE MAILED?

The curated package to youth participants includes:

All packages will be shipped & mailed on July 1, 2020 and will arrive by July 6, 2020 as the program officially begins! 

HOW WILL I RSVP TO THE WORKSHOPS ONCE THEY ARE RELEASED?

The workshops will be listed behind a secured webpage (kind of link a login portal) where you will enter a password and get access to the exclusive schedule. From there, you just click RSVP and that’s it. It will automatically send you a confirmation.

CAN I KEEP ADDING WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF JULY?

Yes! the schedule is what you want it to be. You can add them all at once, add them every couple days, or add them every week. It’s really what works for you and your family. 

WHY VIRTUAL?

Traditionally, our camps are an in-person experience and meet over the course of two weeks. 

Due to COVID-19, an ongoing pandemic that has changed the way we as humans: connect, learn, and create, it is our responsibility as educators to be mindful, respectful, and inclusive to all voices, data, and regulations put in place. 

We spent time collecting data, feedback (directly from families), and information. For many youth students, Austin School of Film’s camps are their first experience getting to work on real equipment, tools, and resources which is what makes our camps one of the most unique film & media arts camps in the United States. We wanted to find an innovative way to pivot this program and keep kids creating. 

Taking a camp made for an in-person experience and forcing it into a virtual experience does not work. We know this and there’s data to back this. People of all ages have difficulty with coursework that has not been modified for a virtual experience and there’s also supplies & equipment. Also, what happens once the streaming stops? Does the creating stop as well? 

We’ve taken the concept of summer camps & tried & true tradition + revisioning to reflect our changing digital landscape with all these factors taken into serious consideration. 

The solution to the current ongoing virus is not a “one size fits all” so we did not want to create a program like this. Instead, we spent many hours carefully producing this program from us to you. We hope you love it! 

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

There are no refunds for this digital program once you have registered. However, we are happy to issue a credit you can use towards another program in the future.

SCHOLARSHIPS

There are a limited number of scholarship spots open. To apply, please email us at camp@austinfilmschool.org. Scholarships are taken on a rolling basis and we will update this once all spots are filled.

To reserve your spot it is $150 deposit through a payment plan. Please contact us to set up a payment plan.
