About Motion Media Arts Center

Founded in 2003, Motion Media Arts Center has continuously championed the transformative power of the arts. Our initiatives, which span from community education through Austin School of Film to our workspace and studio program Cinemaker, are designed to promote inclusivity and provide a platform for every voice to be heard.

Austin School of Film

The Austin School of Film is dedicated to addressing and rectifying underrepresentation in the film and media arts industries. As a community film school accessible to the public, we provide over 100 classes each year, taught by industry professionals. These classes are attended by hundreds of students locally and globally, covering a wide range of subjects from introductory techniques to advanced film production. We are particularly focused on empowering underrepresented and marginalized communities by ensuring that our educational offerings are accessible and affordable to all, thereby fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where creative talents can thrive regardless of their background.

About Cinemaker

Cinemaker is not just a studio membership program—it is a dynamic community of creators spanning film, media arts, and beyond. Tailored like a gym membership for creative professionals, it offers consistent access to studios and workspaces. This setup supports a thriving community of artists, helping them to expand and elevate their creative projects. Our highlighted initiatives, including the Artists in Motion Residency and the Artist Access Program, provide pivotal resources and development opportunities to refine artistic skills and engage effectively with the community.
