2024 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

youth arts EDUCATION INTERNSHIP (PAID INTERNSHIPS)

Join us for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young filmmakers and artists as a Youth Arts Education Internship for Film & Media Arts Camp 2024! As an intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our campers, educators, and staff, directly assisting educators with all aspects of the camp. This 8-week internship, from June to July 2024, offers a $4,000 stipend and the chance to immerse yourself in the vibrant arts and youth education scene of Austin, Texas at Austin School of Film! Timeline & Compensation:

  • Duration: 8 weeks, from June 2024 to July 2024

  • Location: Austin, Texas

  • Stipend: $4,000 internship stipend

  • Additional Perks:

    • $1,000 Education Credit: Access any Austin School of Film adult courses for free, up to $1,000 in comp’d tuition in one calendar year.

    • Access to Coworking + Studio Program: June to August (three months)

    • Complimentary snacks and drinks on site

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the direct Teaching Assistant (TA) for educators, providing support in activity implementation, and camper supervision.

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the camp, including coordinating activities, managing supplies, and ensuring the safety and well-being of campers.

  • Help create a fun and engaging environment that fosters creativity and learning for campers.

  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as tracking attendance, organizing camper evaluations, and preparing materials for activities.

Requirements:

  • Interest in youth education, film, and media arts.

  • Basic film technical knowledge, including operating basic film equipment.

  • Creative mindset and a passion for working with youth.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of campers and staff.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Additional Information:

  • This internship provides valuable experience in youth education and camp management.

  • Applicants must be located within Austin, Texas, for the duration of the internship.

  • Camps are small in size, with 10-15 campers per camp and a ratio of 2 adults to 10-15 campers.

  • Option to receive college or school credit.

  • Short-term learning opportunity focused on youth education and camp coordination.

STUDIO coordinator iNTERNSHIP (paid INTERNSHIP)

This internship program spans 3 months. It is an in-person experience. Applicants must be located within Austin, Texas, and should be 18 years of age or older to apply.

The Studio Coordinator internship provides an entry-level chance for individuals with a creative mindset and a keen interest in gaining experience and feedback in day to day operations of running community studios, film/media equipment, and other production-related skills.

This internship centers the work behind supporting filmmaker and artist services at our East Austin Headquarters for both programs AUSTIN CINEMAKER SPACE and AUSTIN SCHOOL OF FILM. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment, where making mistakes is an integral part of the growth process.

Ideal applicants will have a passion for the arts and a drive to learn new skills hands-on i.e. “learning while doing”. This internship requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week, equivalent to 2-3 days and offers the option of receiving college or school credit.

Workflow includes but not limited to:

  • Day to day operations of a studio production program working with filmmakers, artists, and students to support their needs

  • Collaborating with staff to facilitate communication with filmmakers and artists regarding studio reservations.

  • Preparing film and media equipment for filmmakers and artists

  • Helping answer general questions at Front Desk including greeting community members as they enter

Additional Information:

  • All candidates for any and all positions should have an interest in film and the arts.

  • Internships are either paid via hourly wage or can be used for work/trade (tuition-free classes).

  • All internships are eligible for college credit.

  • Our internships are short term learning opportunities of 10-15 hours per week for a 3 month minimum with the option to renew for an addition three months.

digital marketing/content creation INTERNSHIP (PAID internship)

This internship program spans 3 months. It is an in-person experience. Applicants must be located within Austin, Texas, and should be 18 years of age or older to apply.

The Digital Marketing internship provides an entry-level opportunity for individuals with a creative inclination and a strong eagerness to learn and receive feedback. This role involves gaining experience in editing short-form video content, creating digital ads, social media curation, exploring research, and engaging with communities, and other media creation tasks.

Are you passionate about social media, content creation, and eager to delve into research projects? Do you thrive on hands-on learning and project-based assignments?

In this internship, you'll collaborate directly with leadership + support team in crafting compelling media content for our blog, social media platforms, and website that deeply resonates with our community. Your role will also include engaging in project-based assignments, encompassing research, community outreach, and data analysis.

You'll have the chance to enrich your portfolio and skill set while acquiring valuable experience within a globally recognized nonprofit organization. Ideal applicants will have a passion for the arts and a drive to learn new skills hands-on i.e. “learning while doing”. Applicants must have basic editing and social media knowledge, no other prior experience required.

This internship requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week, equivalent to 2-3 days and offers the option of receiving college or school credit.

Workflow includes but not limited to:

  • Assisting on video interviews

  • Assisting on marketing research

  • Assisting on editing content for social media platforms

  • Learning basic back-end web/graphic terms and workflows

  • Building a portfolio of content
