Apollo & Media Intern Miranda V.

Apollo has been a member of Motion Media Art Center’s family since 2012. He was adopted by MMAC’s Education & Program’s Director Faiza Kracheni in May of 2012 at a little over a year old.

He has joined us during screenings, made surprise visits at our award-winning summer camps, a few cameos in youth student films, and today, he decided it was time to get to work!

He’s gonna hop on in and take you through a typical work day… ;)

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF APOLLO THE PUG

Me when I arrive at the office.

Me when I arrive at the office.

7:30am: I wake up in bed and stare at the humans until they lift me off the bed and onto the floor like a true prince. Our bed is high up and I refuse to use the stairs. I prefer to be carried in comfort.

8:00am: BREAKFAST! After a couple light circles around the backyard, I come inside and eat breakfast with my brother Carl. Carl looks a bit different than me. He weighs 95lbs and has a really long tail. He’s cool though.

8:05am: I am done with breakfast so I retreat to the couch for a morning nap. I’m 9 years old so I nap A LOT.

9:00am: I wake from my nap and get a quick wipe down. I use this spray made for pups like me with many wrinkles. It helps me stay fresh & clean. I put on my favorite striped t-shirt that reminds me of Breathless by Godard. I LOVE French New Wave films. I pair it with a leather motorcycle jacket that’s also a harness for my leash - it makes me feel edgy like Kenneth Anger. I’m out the door in 5.

1:00pm: I’ve been at the office a bit and met some new humans. There’s also a cat. I met her once before and she seemed nice but today, she’s definitely in a mood. Everyone is pretty excited to meet me but what can I say? I’m the dog everyone wants to know.

2:00pm: I get pulled into a photoshoot for some new limited edition merch. It’s fun and I get some treats in return for my time. DANG, I LOOK GOOD.

2:30pm: Another dog shows up, his name is Nemo. He’s cool. We chill for a bit and talk shop. I am working on a new project and he has some sound feedback.

3:00pm: I help our designer on some final postcard designs for our special edition series. I am excited about these designs! If you haven’t noticed, I am a pretty stylish dog and have good opinions on things.

5:00pm: Usually around this time i’m headed home but we still have more work to do. Our school has some new classes & programs starting in 2020. My human says 2020 is going to be our biggest year yet.

7:30pm: Done for the day! I pick up some take-out dinner on the way home for the humans. I prefer home cooked meals, myself.

On my way to get some take-out.

10:00pm: I snooze on and off a bit until I am carried away to bed. I remember to let out a little howl so everyone knows I’m tired.
