Steef Crombach’s

Local Austin artist, Steef Crombach, uses sculpture, projection-mapping, animations, and sound to examine Austin’s commercial businesses and our shared collective consciousness.

While you are checking out the sculpture/film hybrid exhibit, One Bad Monkey, at Women & Their Work, make sure to walk through Ana Esteve Llorens’ exhibit Measuring Device.

The Burnout is Real: A Minding Your Business Session

Future Front’s online session in the Minding My Business series is led by licensed therapist, Davia Roberts, on preventing and recovering from burnout. This session is for independent creatives or small business owners and will have opportunities for connection with other Texan creatives.

More Than I Remember:

Film Screening, Art Auction, and Fundraiser

More Than I Remember is an animated documentary by ICOSA member, Amy Bench. The Texas-made documentary shares Mugeni’s story, a Congolese refugee, and her search for her family. The film premiered at SXSW and has won various awards since. The film will screen outdoors and will be followed by a panel discussion and online art auction. The event is a fundraiser for GirlForward and Refugee Services of Texas. 

AFS Member Shortcase

This shorts showcase features local short films made by AFS MAKE members that screened at SXSW 2022. The films range from narrative to documentary to animation. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. 

Boome Satellites in Texas Screening Premiere

Boome Satellites in Texas is a documentary feature that follows Texas-based Hip-Hop artist, Boome, over 9 years as he navigates the music industry. The feature will be followed by a Q&A with Boome in attendance.

The Contemporary Austin Presents Rooftop Sessions

📍 Jones Center on Congress Avenue — 700 Congress Ave., Austin, TX

The Contemporary’s monthly rooftop session is for local artists to meetup, network, and enjoy the exhibitions at the contemporary. This months theme is Dark Wave, starting with Tarek Atoui: The Whisperers on both floors. The rooftop will have refreshments and a live DJ.

Intro to DSLR Filmmaking

Our intro to DSLR filmmaking course is a great camera introduction for folks who want to learn more about camera recording techniques, vocabulary, and how to troubleshoot picture issues in the field.

Wonderspaces Austin presents Madrid Noir VR

I love the immersive experience that film provides. VR film is a new landscape that takes immersion to a new level. Madrid Noir VR is no exception — classic noir meets cartoonish VR technology — this film embraces both the past and the future and should be a captivating experience.

Hyperreal Film Club Presents Breathing Fire

We love Hyperreal at the Hotel Vegas venue – it is a uniquely Austin experience. They always curate an amazing program with a local short preceding the feature. This one is not one to miss – we gotta show up for local Austin film and art organizations.

Emma Johnson is a 20-something year old white, queer, nonbinary filmmaker who is interested in independent film engagement and marketing. Their films and creative work center queerness and question how systems of racial capitalism affect interpersonal relationships. They have a background in Sociology and are interested in creating art that questions dominant power structures such as whiteness and heteropatriarchy. Their creative content includes visual poetry, narrative, and documentary film styles as well as poetry and film photo collage. Outside of film and writing, they enjoy bike rides, reading memoirs, and sharing food with loved ones.
