SXSW 2017 Quick Review: The Disaster Artist
James Franco's adaption of the making of the cult classic film, "The Room," is a competent, humorous, energetic, and surprisingly emotional piece of work. Performances across the entirety of the cast are fantastic, the story is engaging and sticks close to the source material, and most importantly, the film is crafted and dedicated to the charming/unusual humanity of "The Room" and its creators. It is not without some minor pacing flaws, and some heavy-handed clichés, but overall, if you are a "Room" fanatic, or someone unfamiliar to the cult classic, "The Disaster Artist" is a hilarious and humble film that is enjoyable from start to finish. -Jake
