New Manifest Theatre's Directing Process: Open Forum with Lisa Scheps

  • Motion Media Arts Center 2200 Tillery Street Austin, TX, 78723 United States (map)

As part of New Manifest Theatre's Manifest Minifest 5th annual short play festival, workshops about writing, directing, and producing are included in our week of programming.

In this workshop, award-winning director Lisa Scheps leads an open discussion around her unique process of directing – from play selection to opening night as well as her philosophies of producing theatre. Lisa will spend the later half of the session as a Q&A about her experience directing in Austin (or anything else you may be interested in).

This workshop is low tech so feel free to bring paper and pencil or a laptop if you want.

This workshop is led by Lisa Scheps.

She moved to Austin in 2003 and jumped head first into the Austin theatre scene opening her first theatre, play! Theatre Group in a former Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall on the East Side. In 2014 she founded GFT. Besides running the theatre Lisa hosts a local radio show called Off Stage and On The Air on KOOP community radio and lives in Austin with her killer dog, Foxtrot.
