BRUNCH & HANG: ATX Women in Film, TV, and Creative Industries (RECAP)
What do you get when you put women across film, video, and creative industries in one room?
Last Saturday, we hosted dozens of women within Austin’s film, video, and creative industries for our free quarterly meet-up that we (Motion Media Arts Center) produces in conjunction with other women-led/women-run organizations.
The goal of our quarterly meet-ups (which btw: are completely free & open to any area woman to attend) is to meet, connect, and learn about women directly in our creative communities. From emerging media creators and student filmmakers to industry professionals and those new to town — each event has a little of it all! P.S. Did you know Motion Media Arts Center (aka us) are founded by two women and led by three? 50% of our staff + faculty is also made up of amazing multi-talented women!
Our February 2020 meet-up consisted of a day-time casual hang with brunch-y foods, drinks & sweets, and a 90’s inspired glam photobooth! We also hosted special guest organization Transform Film Fest - a local Austin film festival dedicated to providing an empowering platform to present + award the best films made by women in Texas since establishing in 2017. Attendees could learn more about the festival with two of its co-founders present for a little impromptu chat.
