Vibrant. Magical. Inspiring.

Animation can be a powerful method of storytelling, transporting viewers into realms of endless possibilities. Depicting the worlds of many, including those deep inside our imaginations, animation is constantly pushing the boundaries of filmmaking.  Animation makes use of innovative, creative technology and storytelling with the application of sound, visuals, and design. There are many different styles and methods of animation like traditional hand drawn animation, 3D, stop motion, rotoscope, and even blending live action and animation to capturing stories ranging all genres. When you animate, you have a world quite literally at your fingertips.

It'd be difficult for many to imagine a childhood without animated characters filling our heads - from classics like Disney, Cartoon Network, and Studio Ghibli. This is one universal truth across countries, oceans, and thousand upon thousands of miles between. However, going beyond the basics, animation isn't just for children. Many filmmakers incorporate animation into films.  Great and hugely differing examples include: Richard Linklater's "A Scanner Darkly", the magic of Marvel ala Black Panther, to even narrative filmmaking to documentaries like Tower (2016), and from genre to commercial.

Whether you're someone interested in learning creative software Adobe Animate, how to create digital animations, or perhaps an illustrator looking to take the dive into digital animation - ASoF's Intro to 2D Digital Animation course is a great stepping stone into the world of creative animation using professional software + tools.
