SXSW 2017 Quick Review: Small Town Crime

Small Town Crime, Dir. Esholm and Ian Nelms

A broken down former cop dives back in when a local crime peaks his interest, giving him a shot at redemption and purpose. A fantastic vehicle for a versatile actor like John Hawkes who shines here, along with a stellar ensemble cast. It's a low-key tight thriller with enough humor that makes it unique and gives it momentum to charge into an explosive and satisfying climax.
