Film & Friends Showcase: night II

  • Hyperreal Film Club 301 Chicon Street Austin, TX, 78702 United States (map)

Join us for Austin School of Film’s biannual celebration of hyper-independent and local film!

We’re showcasing an eclectic mix of  23 (!!!) narrative, experimental, and documentary short films plus a couple of music videos featuring local bands - all created right here at Austin School of Film.

Twice a year, this community film series brings together filmmakers at every stage of their journey: first-timers who are just picking up a camera, alongside working professionals refining their craft, building mentorship, and expanding their creative networks.

Over the course of two Sundays in October, we’re teaming up with Hyperreal Film Club, longtime collaborators of our community programs. The screenings will take place at their new super cute East Austin theater, a space dedicated to championing independent filmmaking and community-centered storytelling in Austin.

The program features films from our award-winning beginner friendly courses Digital Filmmaking: Script to Screen and Avant-Garde & Experimental Filmmaking, as well as projects from two advanced intensives: our Documentary Filmmaking Intensive (applications now open for 2026 enrollment!) and Music Video Production created in partnership with local musicians.

All ticket proceeds directly support Austin School of Film! By attending, you’re not just buying a ticket—you’re joining a long tradition of uplifting filmmakers and media artists who’ve debuted their very first public screenings at this beloved biannual event.

TICKETS COMING SOON :)

FILMS — OCTOBER 12, 2025

Doors at 4pm, Screening begins at 4:30pm, Q&A with filmmakers to follow

Please note: This screening series is 18+ only. Films will be thoughtfully curated to create the best viewing experience. We won’t be publishing the screening order of films in advance, as we want to encourage everyone to stay for the entire showcase — to honor and support every filmmaker, celebrate local film, and show up for your community. Filmmaking isn’t only about creating work, it’s about being part of something bigger.
