Every booking, every time

Reset & check out.

15 minutes, inside your booked time. The reset is the rent.

Strike & store

Power down. Coil cables, gear back in its case on its shelf.

Reset the studio

Props and furniture back to their homes. Backdrop paper wound up, tables and surfaces wiped with Clorox, makeup area reset, messes swept.

Report & check out

Report any damage to gear or accessories, then check out with a staff member.

★ We are not responsible for cleaning up after your reservation. Studios that are not reset properly and left a mess may incur a $50 fee, charged automatically to the card on file. Please complete this check list to ensure a smooth process. We are not responsible for any gear left on site that is not our own. No exceptions. Double check you have everything before you leave.

24/7 members have all access, any time. General members must book within these hours.

On arrival · staff 9am to 6pm daily

Check in

Staff are on site Monday to Sunday, 9am to 6pm. They answer questions and help you get your reservation started.

After 6pm, Artist Access Coordinators are on site during studio hours. They have limited knowledge and cannot help with more complex studio questions.

If you need help with gear or setup, book between 9am and 6pm.

  • Your talent and crew
  • Props and wardrobe
  • Your own kit and camera package
  • SD cards and batteries
  • A tether cable for the 4K monitor, a trigger for the strobes
  • Anything else your production needs

How to book

  • Use your membership name and email, or the booking gets cancelled.
  • Book the whole block. Setup, shoot, breakdown, and your 15 minute reset all happen inside your reservation.
  • Book up to 35 days out. Need something further ahead? Email us and we will look at it case by case.
  • Three hours max on the scheduler. Email us for an extended reservation.
  • Not shooting? Cancel. Someone else needs the slot.
  • Slot not showing? Email us anyway.

House rules

  • Only handle gear you can operate. Ask if unsure.
  • Keep the dock, window walls, and aisles clear.
  • Report damage right away. You will not be in trouble.
  • Reset inside your booked time. Studios that are not reset properly may incur a $50 fee.
  • Take your gear with you. We are not responsible for anything left on site.
  • Respect the space. Leave it clean and in order.
★ Bring your own kit. Your membership covers the studios and the gear that lives in them, listed on this page. Everything else comes with you.

Four times a year

CINEMAKER Connect

Our quarterly exhibition series. Each edition opens a call to all active members to submit work made in the studios, and we curate three members per exhibition on a rotating basis.

How do I book a studio?

Online, using the name and email on your membership.

Book studio time →

How long can I book for?

Members can book up to three hours on the scheduler. If you would like more time in the studio, email us for an extended reservation.

There is no cap on daily hours, but please be mindful and only use what you need.

How far ahead can I book?

Up to 35 days out. If you need a date beyond that, email us and we will look at it case by case.

The time I want is not available.

Email us. Some slots can be opened that the scheduler does not show.

When can I move to 24/7 access?

After three months of membership. 24/7 access is $265 a month. Email us and we will switch you over.

How does billing and cancellation work?

Payments draw on the 1st of the month, with a six month minimum. Cancelling takes 30 days notice and must be emailed to member@austinfilmschool.org.

Is anyone on site to help?

Staff are on site Monday to Sunday, 9am to 6pm, to answer questions and help you start your reservation.

After 6pm, Artist Access Coordinators are on site during studio hours with limited knowledge, so they cannot assist with more complex studio questions. For help with gear or setup, book between 9am and 6pm.

What gear comes with my membership?

Everything listed in the studio inventories on this page. Anything not on those lists, bring your own.

Is the gear list guaranteed?

No. Gear moves between studios, breaks, and gets retired. Double check at check in with our team member before building a shot list around one piece.

Can I bring clients, crew or talent?

Yes. Tell staff who is coming beforehand. You are responsible for your crew, your talent, and the studio.

Can I shoot paid or commercial work?

Yes. Members shoot client work, portfolios, music videos, and commercial jobs here. That is what the program is for.

How much cleanup is expected?

15 minutes, inside your booked time. Gear in its case, C stands soldiered with knuckle and arm, props and furniture to their homes, tables and surfaces wiped with Clorox, makeup area reset, messes swept, trash bagged, lights off.

We do not reset studios after reservations. A studio that is not reset properly and left a mess may incur a $50 fee, charged automatically to the card on file.

I left something behind.

Email us and we will look, but we are not responsible for any gear left on site that is not our own, no exceptions. Double check you have everything before you leave.

Something broke, or a piece is missing.

Tell staff right away. You will not be in trouble. The problem is the next person finding it mid shoot.

What am I not allowed to move?

White Box: the mini fridge, coffee pot, and loft, unless staff help. Both studios: keep the dock, window walls, and aisles clear.

Which studio should I book?

White Box (101): natural light, restroom, makeup area. Portraits and daylight looks.

Black Box (110): 18ft ceilings, loading dock, mobile walls. Controlled lighting and big builds.

How do I get into CINEMAKER Connect?

Each quarter we open a call to all active members. Submit work you made in the studios, and we curate three members per exhibition on a rotating basis.

The agreement

Terms & conditions.

The terms you agreed to at sign up, in plain language. We update these from time to time and always notify members of changes.

Membership & billing
  • Memberships run on a six month minimum. Payments draw on the 1st of the month.
  • General access is $165 a month. 24/7 access is $265 a month, available after three months of membership.
  • Cancellation requires 30 days written notice by email to member@austinfilmschool.org. Plan changes must also be sent by email.
  • Membership is individual and not transferable.
Studio use
  • Book under the name and email on your membership. Bookings that do not match may be cancelled.
  • Setup, shoot, breakdown, and your 15 minute reset all happen inside your reserved block.
  • The scheduler opens 35 days ahead. Dates beyond that are considered case by case.
  • Bookings longer than three hours need approval in advance.
  • You are responsible for your crew, talent, and guests while on site.
Equipment
  • Studio gear stays in the studios and is used on site only.
  • Only operate equipment you are trained and comfortable using.
  • Inventory is subject to change without notice.
  • Report damage or missing items to staff immediately.
  • Personal gear is your responsibility. CINEMAKER is not responsible for any gear left on site that is not our own, no exceptions.
Reset & condition of the space
  • Studios are returned to their layout map at the end of every booking, using the strike list on this page.
  • A 15 minute buffer sits between bookings for the reset.
  • CINEMAKER does not reset studios after reservations. A studio that is not reset properly and left a mess may incur a $50 fee, charged automatically to the card on file.
  • Repeated failure to reset may affect booking privileges.

  • You own the work you make here.
  • Submitting to CINEMAKER Connect is voluntary and open to active members.
  • We may share tagged or submitted work in our promotion, with credit.
