Austin School of Film hosted another exciting event that celebrated the creative prowess of emerging filmmakers in Central Texas. On June 3, 2023, the film nonprofit premiered 17 short films, featuring the works of many first-time adult filmmakers.

In this round, music videos featuring all local musicians and narrative shorts ranging from comedy to dystopian weirdness were presented, cultivating a diverse range of stories and styles on display —all created in Austin School of Film’s Digital Filmmaking: Script to Screen and Music Video Production courses.

At the heart of Austin School of Film's 20-year success in nurturing emerging filmmakers is its acclaimed 8-week Digital Filmmaking: Script to Screen class. Designed specifically for individuals with little to no prior filmmaking knowledge, this comprehensive course equipped students with the essential skill set and creative process needed to create their own short films. By covering all phases of production, from scriptwriting to editing, participants gained hands-on experience and knowledge that allowed them to bring their visions to life.

With guidance from experienced film instructors, students learned the fundamentals of screenwriting, film production, and post-production editing. The emphasis was on empowering individuals to express their unique voices through the art of filmmaking, regardless of their background or level of expertise. The Script to Screen class at Austin School of Film opened doors for aspiring filmmakers, providing them with the necessary tools to unleash their creativity and turn their ideas into compelling visual stories — creating a launchpad for emerging filmmakers. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students gain the necessary technical skills and creative insights to develop their own short film.

Through mentorship and education, Austin School of Film is proud to continue supporting artists on their journey to refine their craft, learn creative skills, and gain recognition by presenting their work to the public.

Until next time, see you on set!
