JULY’S Upcoming Events
Stories About Comfort Food Presented by Color Arc Productions
Date: Saturday, July 29, 2023
Time: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Age Restriction: ALL AGES WELCOME
Color Arc Productions, "Stories About Comfort Food," an enchanting evening of live storytelling and a short film screening. The event draws inspiration from the theme of "comfort food," which universally heals the soul. Storytellers from diverse backgrounds, including a Netflix dating show celebrity, a millennial comedian/filmmaker, a celebrated Austin playwright, and more, will grace the stage with their narratives.
The event promises a heartwarming and diverse range of tales that reflect the power of food to connect us all. Additionally, the world premiere trailer of the comedy short film "Pizza My Heart," produced by Color Arc Productions, will be a delightful treat to close the evening. With Christine Hoang, the Founding Producing Director of Color Arc Productions, as the emcee and DJ LadyRoxoxo providing the music, this event is sure to be a night to remember.

Hot Takes 02: Pier Kids Directed by Elegance Bratton

"HOT TAKES" is Austin’s newest film series that seeks to share queer stories from around the world while building a strong and supportive community in Austin, Texas. As legislation continues to target the LGBTQIA+ community in Texas, HOT TAKES provides a platform for queer lives, trans experiences, and drag queens to be celebrated and cherished.
On July 30, MMAC will host a special screening of "Pier Kids," a powerful documentary directed by Elegance Bratton. This film promises to offer a profound insight into the lives and experiences of queer individuals while fostering a sense of unity and joy within the community. Following the screening, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle that supports Out Youth, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering LGBTQIA+ youth.
