Welcome to Film Fan Club, where we bring you Motion Media Art Center’s monthly film favorites. From film fests to classes to screenings, we got you covered for where to be for all things Austin film.

Hyperreal Film Club x Classic Film Series at the Paramount

Austin beloved Hyperreal is partnering with the grandest theater in town – The Paramount to present some cult film classics on the big screen this summer. A great way to get out of the heat, we will definitely be putting these weekly screenings in our calendar. We are particularly excited for the June 30th screening of Holy Motors, as we love anything and everything experimental film! This 2012 avant-garde film explores the multiverse through the lens of a tired actor. We’ll see you there!

aGLIFF Pride Mini Film-A-Thon

I love queer cinema – it is what helped me understand myself and my identities. I am always looking for new queer cinema to watch as this genre often expands the bounds of both queerness and film. Austin’s longest-running queer film festival is back with their mini film-a-thon to celebrate pride month and all things queer cinema. The weekend includes four features, a shorts program, a comedy show, and live Q&A’s with film directors. Need I say more?

Although we love this festival for its global scope, we are particularly excited for the Hecho En Tejas Competition, a shorts screening of films shot and/or produced in Texas. The variety and talent at this festival is not to be missed!

Part of the program will screen at Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center for free. Check out the free program here
