Project Type: Training Video

Director: Jonathan Horstmann

Project Description:

Texas CASA will be filming a training video to show our volunteers what testifying is like in a child welfare case.

Please email to be sent script. We would like to view headshots or taped readings before the casting.

Character Breakdown:

Advocate - Karen Hart - believes termination of parental rights is in the children’s best interest, they need and deserve stability, consistency and permanency. Also believes that the children are bonded to and love their dad and that dad loves them.

Advocate Coordinator - Taylor Strong - supports the Advocate’s recommendation. Does not believe that Dad can provide stability.

Prosecutor - Riley Dunn - goal is termination of parental rights. Does not want to waste any more time on extending or monitoring this case.

Defense Attorney - Peyton Hyde - Zealously defending Dad’s desires to have the children returned to him and be given, at a minimum, the remaining two months of time to prove himself stable for the children. Defense attorney was relentless in questioning the CPS caseworker on the stand, specifically asking her to define whether she took into consideration Dad’s transportation issues and whether she updated services when he was released from jail and relocated.

AAL for the child - Avery Goodman - Represents the children and while she believes the children love their father, she does not believe they want to return home, rather they are healthy and happy in their stable foster/adopt placement and want to remain there. AAL does hope that after adoption the children will keep in contact with their father and extended family.

Judge - Honorable Quinn Justice - Neutral Fact Finder.
