Did you know all classes at Austin School of Film are taught by industry professionals directly working in the film and creative media field?

For 2019 Teacher Appreciation Day, ASoF wanted highlight and share with you some of our faculty members at our school. As one of Austin’s longest running nonprofit educational institutes for film and creative media for all ages in Texas, we make it our mission to make a space for people to learn, work, and inspire on another to create new meaningful media works and attain accessible educational resources and opportunities. With a full time staff and over 25+ faculty members each year, here’s a taste of six multi-media professionals and educators we love!

Jennifer Cunningham

Jennifer is an independent artist, designer, and educator based in Austin, Texas. Recently wit ha full page editorial about her work in Eastside Austin Magazine (so cool!). She is the lead instructor for all SFX classes at Austin School of Film and a lead educator in all youth SFX camps. Jen has been a faculty member with us since 2017 teaching SFX I, SFX II, SFX II for adults ages 18+ and camps for youth each summer. Her creative work is featured in film, photography, and editorial. Jen has an exciting Fall 2019 with us, teaching SFX classes in October - the spookiest month of the year. Students leave her workshop with mini make-up kits and pro photos of all the looks completed in class.

Alie Jackson

Alie is the Senior Art Director at Arts and Labor production house and an Official Lens Creator at Snapchat Lens Studio. Alie has worked with notable agency clients such as Marvel, Warner Brothers, Amazon Studios, ABC, and Lionsgate. She is the lead educator for all Adobe Illustrator and Augmented Reality (AR) courses. She also teaches a unique specialty course on Experimental Video Art.

Alonso J. Lujan

Alonso is a Director and Cinematographer based in Austin who’s work ranges from narrative & docs to commercial. His work has screened at festivals across the globe including winning the MTV Award for Best Music Video. His clients include: Facebook, Sony, Rolling Stone, and Warner Music. Alonso is lead instructor for Cinematography I & II.

Illyana Bocanegra

Illyana is a videographer and content producer from South Texas. Her focus is in documentary filmmaking and storytelling. Her experience ranges from work with organizations such as E4 Youth, Transform Film Fest, and Cine Las Americas. Her work has a strong focus on community, the arts, and young people. This summer, Illyana will be the lead in our documentary film camp for teens.

Corey Kline

Corey is what some people call in the industry - a unicorn. He is both well versed in production and post-production, bringing value to his clients and productions globally. In addition to his on-set expertise, Corey is a Certified Training instructor for DaVinci Resolve (fun fact: Austin School of Film is Texas’ first and only certified Training Partner for DaVinci Resolve in-classroom training!). Chances are, if you’ve taken any technical workshop with us, you’ve met this amazing multi-media professional!

Nathan Bayless

Nathan is a highly skilled animator and editor who recently just wrapped a new Amazon Studios series “Undone” last week (just in time for summer camp :p)! He was also a colorist and animator on Emmy-winning Documentary feature TOWER. Nathan has been teaching with us for over three years and we value all the creative assets he brings to our students of all ages including his youth outreach education. His workshops consistently sell out as he helps students learn complex creative software seem approachable for ALL LEVELS. Word is, he may be leading Cinema 4D classes with us in the near near future!
