3 Evenings in November Filled with Local Film, Performance, and Visual Art
As part of Big Medium’s Austin Studio Tour, AFTER DARK is curating an exclusive experience for the annual city-wide event with a roster of local artists— many of them exhibiting work to the public for the first time. Each night will blend visual arts, cinema and performance.
Over the course of two weekends in November, Motion Media Arts Center’s ongoing events series, AFTER DARK, will curate 29 local media artists for an exclusive Austin Studio Tour experience. Guests can expect to sip on bubbly cocktails and mocktails, indulge in local savory bites and sweets, and be fully immersed into the chaotic, beautiful, and tantalizing world of underground art.
With a nod to the organization’s mission to preserve and teach motion picture film, they’ll kick off the experience on November 12 with an entire night devoted to ANALOG WORSHIP featuring 15 short experimental films, 5 visual artists, and special performance by local poet and artist Raphaella the Swan.
All three “one night only” events are completely free to attend but only open to those 18 and older due to content. All guests who RSVP will receive a reminder email 24 hours before the event begins as space is limited.

NITE I - ANALOG NITE
NOV 12 // 8PM
NITE I features 15 experimental films produced purely on analog format by local filmmakers and premiering work by 5 local visual artists. The night will cap off with an immersive performance by Raphaella the Swan.
NITE II - STORYTELLING NITE NOV 19 // 8PM
NITE II will debut a new multimedia installation created by local artist & filmmaker William F. Reed, and screen the narrative work of 5 local filmmakers spanning horror, comedy, and sci-fi. The night will end with iconic drag performances by GOTHESS JASMINE and DUST BUNNY.
NITE III - A NITE OF STARS NOV 20 // 8PM
NITE III is a night for your senses. Enjoy film loops, analog camera tinkering, a live analog DJ Temptrixx, and other surprises. A party to top off the celebration of 29 artists featured at AFTER DARK x Austin Studio Tour.
