Cast & Crew Call for D&D Web Series

Project Type: Web Series

Writer/Director/Producer: Ryan Wilbanks

Production Company: VideoSaga

Project Description: Excited by the notion of unscripted adventuring through ancient ruins with a tight-knit cast, bursting into hysterical laughter at an impromptu joke, or maybe plunging the emotional depths of your own original character? Perhaps you're already an experienced role-player dying to take part in a truly unique campaign with top-notch talent on a high-production live-stream.

VideoSaga, a new video production company, is hosting a series of informal auditions for our very first tabletop role-playing web-series. Whether or not you have any experience with acting, Dungeons & Dragons or other role-playing mediums, we still want to hear from you.

The actual audition consists of a brief conversation with a series of impromptu questions and hypothetical situations. The only thing you need to bring or send in is a basic character monologue. If you don't have one, here's a couple we like and would be delighted if you chose to use:

And just the slightest bit of stage direction so that you can know what we're after and to help set you up for success:

In this instance, try for "understated". Be loose and act naturally. Good role-playing is closer to good improv than good theater. Think less "Shakespeare", more "Whose Line Is It Anyway". What we're really looking for is chemistry and personality, not necessarily enormous talent or experience.

Besides that, just come with a good attitude and an open mind. This is the first of a proposed 3 auditions with a timeline that should put us on track for our first day of shooting in mid-June. Meanwhile, you may be asked back for subsequent chemistry tests.

Lastly, while you should consider this a sort of "pilot" and a non-paid gig, we're really hoping to form a long-term cast acting as "theater troupe", forming it's own internal production company selling merchandise, subscriptions to premium access, and taking sponsorships. As such, current cast members at such time would each take part in a horizontal revenue split.

While this is the farthest thing from guaranteed riches (let's face it, these things tend to be a kind of pipe dream) it's important to us that prospective cast members understand the intent is to hopefully grow the series into a brand they'd be an integral part of.

It's also important that applicants understand exactly what they're getting into. VideoSaga is a fledgling start-up with no major financial backing. If you join the cast, you'd be playing a big part of a small business, with all the uncertainty that entails. That said, please take a chance on us because maybe no one else will. You might be just the one we need. We want this thing to someday be a fun, welcoming, awesome place for like-minded people to do their best creative work, and it would mean the world to us to have you as a founding member.

In order to audition, we ask that you RSVP. Please do not arrive unannounced.
