Cinema Obscura #001

  • Cheer Up Charlies 900 Red River Street Austin, TX, 78701 United States (map)

Cinema Obscura is an ongoing screening series produced by Motion Media Arts Center highlighting & combining the ATX film, visual arts and underground music communities for a night for your senses. Works created vary from Super 8, 16mm, animation, digital narrative and documentary short films.

Our goal is empower, support and educate emerging artists of all ages to be active participants in shaping our culture and engage communities to rethink the way we view film, art and technology. We provide alternative ways to work, learn, create, and consume the arts in the digital era.

Our next series installment will host at Cheer Up Charlies on Sunday, September 17, 2017 @ 7pm; join us for a dreamy night of sight & sound.

Hard Dwell -- 10:00pm
New outfit from members of Army, Sass and Residual Kid. Fuzzed out. Delayed. Lofi.

Michael C. Sharp -- 10:45pm
"Since Sungod, drummer Michael C. Sharp has been writing and recording under his own name, and we’re premiering the lead track “Well-Being” from his latest cassette and first solo release for Holodeck, Never Enough Time. “Well-Being” is a propulsive tune, with looped guitar and synth lines, that gets the album off to a fiery start, and trust me, the rest of the tape doesn’t let up (sadly, you have to wait until Never Enough Time drops October 20)"

Temple of Angels -- 11:30pm
ATX's newest post-punk dreamy super group. With only releasing a demo a few weeks ago, we are excited to see what is to come.
