SXSW 2018 Film Review | Thunder Road

We all deal with grief and loss our own way. Some of us may not even know how to deal with these things until we’re faced with them. Writer/director Jim Cummings also stars in a story that brings a lot of heart and big laughs in equal measure. The film follows a police officer who has his own unique ways of moving on after a loss and simply dealing with life.

There’s a wonderful dry sense of humor at work even in the most heart wrenching moments as he tries to do the right thing, and that’s what makes it so accessible to all. The comedy of the situations and his back and forth emotions are unpredictable and keep you glued to the screen rooting for him all along the way. A charming, hilarious, heartfelt, and unforgettable character piece.
