MIX/VHS Week 094

When the Great Internet Doggo comes from the matrix to deliver a brand spanking new MIX/VHS you should take notice. I mean a highly skilled team of content curators got together in secret to make a list of the best of the best. As always, we bring this to you and will continue to, until the little experiment called “the internet” ends and we go back to just using newspapers.

Easy Life // Nightmares

WATCH IT HERE!

There's great beauty in this little life of ours. And lots of fears and nightmares and anxieties, too. All of which you will inevitably have, and no one will ever care about them. The sooner you accept that, the better and stronger your life will be. This little diddy and music video capture this idea so well, all in a video that is saturated in fun and heart.

Plurabelle // Our Fires (edit by Mattis Dovier)

WATCH IT HERE!

Recently, I took a dive into pixel art and while looking for inspiration, I came across Mattis Dovier and his illustrating work. This music video he edited for Plurabelle particularly struck me, with it's dark visuals and horror themes. His work is heavily inspired by horror manga and tumblr gif culture, which I dig. He also collaborated with XXX on their music video for Flight Attendant back in 2016 - so if you like what you see I definitely recommend checking that out and his other material.

Shocking Dark

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE!

Have ever wanted James Cameron’s Aliens to be set in Venice and have aspects of Terminator and T2 in it? If so then I have a movie for you, Bruno Mattei’s Shocking Dark. This Italian sci-fi Aliens/Terminator rip off is literally a lo-fi shot for shot remake of these to beloved films but without any of the charm. All of the dialogue is dubbed and incredibly stilted, and the effects are just passable with an “alien” that is barely comprehensible and the laziest most confused ending for a movie EVER. I highly recommend it.
