A Screenwriting Workshop

with Nicholas Meyer

Join Other Worlds Austin and Austin School of Film for an in-depth screenwriting workshop from 2019 Other Worlds Defender of the Universe Awardee, Nicholas Meyer.

Nicholas Meyer is an American writer and director, known for his best-selling novel The Seven-Per-Cent Solution and for directing the films Time After Time, two of the Star Trek feature film series, the 1983 television movie The Day After, and the 1999 HBO original movie Vendetta.

Meyer was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976), where he adapted his own novel into a screenplay. He has also been nominated for a Satellite Award, three Emmy Awards, and has won four Saturn Awards. He appeared as himself during the 2017 On Cinema spinoff series The Trial, during which he testified about Star Trek and San Francisco.

Meyer will give us a peek into his process and influences. Drawing examples from films he’s loved and learned from; some old, some silent, some foreign, some of his own, he’ll give those in attendance a little insight into how screenplays like TIME AFTER TIME, STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, FATAL ATTRACTION, and SOMMERSBY go from thought to page.

There will be lots of time for questions from Other Worlds Austin’s Artistic Senior Programmer Dan Repp and the attendees.
