FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Motion Media Arts Center Introduces Four Fresh Artists for "Artists in Motion" Exhibition and Residency Program, Amplifying Underrepresented Voices in the World of Media Arts.

Motion Media Arts Center (MMAC) is thrilled to unveil the return of the "Artists in Motion" exhibition and residency series for its second year with support from the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, Texas Commission on the Arts, and Precision Camera

On November 11, 2023, MMAC invites the public to the official opening of the captivating group exhibition, featuring four new artists: Chie Endo, Evelyn Rude, Joshua Oliver, and Michelle Bluhm. This event aligns with the iconic annual Austin Studio Tour, providing a platform for these exceptional artists to weave their unique perspectives and artistic visions into the rich tapestry of media arts within the heart of Texas.

Without a specific theme, it aims to shine a spotlight on media artists who have historically been underrepresented in the arts, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant creative community. “The work will speak for itself” said Co-Executive Director Faiza Kracheni.

"Artists in Motion" is a ground-level grassroots initiative. We've crafted this program with a specific focus on supporting emerging media artists in Texas, providing them a vital platform to exhibit their talents, gain invaluable feedback, and take that essential initial step toward advancing and expanding their creative pursuits. With a commitment to amplifying historically underrepresented voices in the arts, "Artists in Motion" seeks to cultivate a spirit of community and artistic collaboration. Here, artists not only showcase their work but actively participate in the curation and production processes, gaining insights into the inner workings of galleries and art spaces without having to take on any of the financial burden," she emphasized.

The program offers a range of educational opportunities, including artist talks, workshops, and mentorship. Participants gain access to industry professionals, state-of-the-art facilities, and a spacious 4,300 square-foot flexible exhibition space. This comprehensive approach enables artists to learn, create, and connect with the media arts community, nurturing the growth and development of the next generation of media artists.
