Our Community Director Carrie Cates is watching a horror film each day this October, in what she has dubbed 31 Days of Horror! We’ll be posting her spooky cinema journey here every day this month, so check back in to see what she’s watching next!

The Serpent and The Rainbow

"How have I never heard of this movie before? Wes Craven knocks it out of the park with this insane movie. It has everything: Voodoo, Bill Pullman, a bad guy with a golden tooth, spiders, zombies, a super weird sex scene, snakes, a scary bride, nightmares, hands crawling out of soup, burying people alive, nailing scrotums to stuff, and the uprising of an entire country. Seriously, what more could you ask for? It takes a little while to totally get moving, but in the meantime you get an Indiana Jones horror movie and in the last few scenes a crazy fight sequence where gravity seems to no longer matter. Worth checking out if you’ve ever enjoyed a Wes Craven flick before. A fun watch.

2 out of 5 on the fright-o-meter for gore, blood, bugs, and a couple not-really-jumpy jump scares."
