ABOUT the film
While traveling through the Amazon, Uýra shares ancestral knowledge with Indigenous youth to promote the significance of identity and place, threatened by Brazil's oppressive political regime. Through dance, poetry, and stunning characterization, Uýra boldly confronts historical racism, transphobia, and environmental destruction, while emphasizing the interdependence of humans and the environment.

HOT TAKES is a new doc series that shares queer stories from across the globe while building community right here in Austin, Texas. Hot Takes emerged because the programmers know that being queer rules! They also understand that, perhaps, it's been easy to forget that lately as legislation attacking the LGBTQIA+ community continues to move forward in Texas. In light of this they wanted to host a series that centered queer lives, trans experiences, and drag queens.
This series invites everyone to join in for some queer, wholesome fun; to rest and renew; to be with community and to play! Texas Queer Joy forever.

Texas Health Action (THA) is a community informed 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to culturally affirming, quality health services in a safe and supportive environment with an expertise in serving LGBTQIA+ people and people impacted by HIV. Since 2015, Texas Health Action has provided health services without stigma or judgement and has empowered the community through outreach and education. Texas Health Action operates Kind Clinic, which provides sexual health services through locations across Texas; TeleKind, which provides sexual health services via virtual visits and at-home testing; and Waterloo Counseling Center, which provides behavioral health services in Austin.
aGLIFF’s mission is to create positive and visible film programs relevant to the lives of LGBTQIA+ identified people, to educate the community about LGBTQIA+ issues, to produce and promote the best in LGBTQIA+ community building events, and to support and partner with other organizations to enlighten the public. aGLIFF community programs include the Queer Youth Media Project, Queer Black Voices Fund and Queer Spectrum Monthly Screenings. PRISM, our annual marquee LGBTQIA+ film festival is held each year in August.
