Intro to TouchDesigner
Intro to TouchDesigner
ASoF is proud to announce its first TouchDesigner course with lead instructor & multimedia professional Dominique Davis! TouchDesigner is a visual development platform that provides students, creatives, artists, and professionals with the tools needed to create unique realtime projects and rich user experiences.
This programming application has abilities for editing, compositing, photo-manipulation, 2-D/3-D animation, connecting to other hardware/software, and interactive programming.
Over the course of 18 hours, students will cover TouchDesigner’s four major uses:
Augmented Reality (AR) creation
media management tool creation
Interactive Installation(s) creation
Students will learn hands-on how to:
create custom user interfaces
render 3-D scenes
drive real-time animation with interactive technology
build node based logic systems
build video filters/generators
optimize tools for live performance
Students will leave each class with a new tool they can use to build upon and use for future projects.
All classes take place in MMAC's iMac computer lab. All software courses are taught on iMac computers. Mac experience is strongly suggested for any ASoF software course but not required.
PLEASE NOTE: Students will not have class on October 31 (Halloween) but will have class on Tuesday, October 30 in replacement. All other dates will remain as scheduled on Wednesday evenings.
INSTRUCTOR: Dom Davis is a freelance interactive entertainment developer. He received a double BA in Humanities and Film Studies at the University of Colorado while working production for concerts at the Fox Theater and at the University. Following his return home to Austin, he received a residency at Empire Control Room performing visuals for musicians. Soon after, he expanded to performing for festivals, dance performances, building projection mappings, and constructing interactive installations. He currently builds real-time content and software that drives real-time 3D & 2D animation for clients such as Mazda, Intel, Bassnectar, Beats Antique, Alejandro Escovedo, and UT Neuroscience.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: If you’ve been wanting to get into interactive installations, projection mapping or just learn to create generative video art. This class is perfect for beginners or occasional users looking to get a better understanding of the basics of TouchDesigner.
PRE-REQUISITES: none necessary; all levels welcome!
