Teen Special FX Camp

Teen Special FX Camp

Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 20

Spend your summer learning what goes on behind the scenes of your favorite guts, gore, and monster films with a professional SFX artist!

In this 30-hour specialty camp, students will get an in-depth introduction to special effects makeup from professional special FX artist Jennifer Cunningham and learn valuable tips and tricks. This camp gives teen students the chance to flex their creative muscles as you learn some basics from one of Austin's most important & popular Texas FX artists!

Students will partake in a portraits photoshoot to capture looks created in camp. Students will leave this camp with a mini makeup kit including items that will be demonstrated in class so that you can recreate creations for future projects, digital photos + short videos compromised of each of the looks created shot in our professional film/video studio.

Topics covered in this camp include:

  • Monster & Zombie Makeup

  • Injury & Wound application

  • Paint for illusion

  • Fake blood: how to make it and how to fake it

  • Using homemade items & easy recipes to achieve looks without compromising your budget vs. industry standard professional kits (pros & cons of each)
