Intro to Augmented Reality
WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY?
Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real world environment where the objects that reside in the real-world are “augmented” by computer-generated perceptual information. AR alters one's ongoing perception of a real-world environment, whereas virtual reality completely replaces the user's real-world environment with a simulated one.
This 12-hour workshop will teach you the fundamentals of augmented reality (AR) and how to build an AR experience using digital software Lens Studio + the Snapchat.
Through project-based learning, this course will break down complex AR concepts to make them easy to understand, while also sharing expert tips and knowledge from ASoF lead instructor, Official Lens Creator and Snap's Lens Studio Ambassador, and multi-media artist, Alie Jackson.
All stills used are courtesy of Alie Jackson and feature her latest work including her AR lens for Nike Jordan which premiered at ALL STAR WEEKEND 2019.
Over the course of a weekend, students will learn:
What is AR and its possibilities in art, commerce, social media, and digital marketing
How AR experiences work
How AR is shifting the digital landscape
Getting familiar with AR software (instructor led tutorial on digital devices)
Concept development of your AR Experience (class project)
Building an AR experience using Snapchat's Lens Studio (hands-on learning)
