Digital Filmmaking for Teens


This hands-on course will take students through the process of making a short film from script to screen. Students will be immersed into the world of digital filmmaking and learn extensively on topics such as: screenwriting, story boarding, casting, camera movement, sound, lighting and will take on such crew roles such as: Gaffer (lighting), Boom Operator (sound), Editor, Cinematographer (camera), Producer, and Director. At the end of this class, students will have a festival-ready 5 minute short film.

Austin School of Film will submit all final films from this course to the 2018 Austin Youth Film Festival on behalf of the students. All films will be showcased at ASoF's Community Screening (tba in January 2018).

INSTRUCTOR: Logan Taylor is an Austin-based film professor and programmer. She teaches various courses in communications at Austin Community College and assists in programming at SXSW Film Festival and Fantastic Fest. In her free time, Logan (unsurprisingly) watches lots of movies, takes her dog on lots of walks, and eats lots of queso.
