Our advanced Cinematography II course will extend the principles learned in Cinematography I to techniques used to establish directional intentions. Students will work in crew to shoot in real-time in-class exercises learning hands-on with professional gear.

Advanced/nuanced lighting techniques
Controlling and manipulating light for mood, emotion tone, and dramatic intention
Camera movement and its effect on the pacing and mood
ASoF's Cinematography I & II courses are led by professional filmmaker Alonso J. Luján and center around the intention behind technical decisions. Students will be given several film assignments in class designed to teach and explore how and why we create various visuals within storytelling - going beyond the rudimentary basics.
INSTRUCTOR: Alonso J. Luján is a director and cinematographer based in Austin, TX, working on narrative films, commercials, documentaries, and other content. His work has screened at festivals across the globe, collecting numerous accolades, including the MTV award for Best Music Video at the Independent Music Awards, in Spain UFI10. Some of the clients he has worked with include Coca Cola, Facebook, Sony Music Entertainment, Rolling Stone Magazine, and Warner Music.
This course and all ASoF courses are certified with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to provide Continue Professional Educational (CPE) credits.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: those interested in the art of cinematography, the role of a cinematographer on set, and learning more in-depth about this specific role within the film industry. Students must be at least 16 years old to take this class.
