ASoF is proud to offer a brand new 6-week course that adapts the curriculum of our popular Avant-Garde & Experimental Filmmaking class for digital media. Students will examine works from the historic and contemporary Avant-Garde, with a specific focus on Expanded Cinema, New Media, and Video/ Installation Art. Students will learn how to create their own experimental short film on a digital format and edit on Final Cut Pro X.

 

Students need to have access to a digital video camera. You will need to provide your own tapes and cover any expenses incurred by the short film.

Who Should Attend:  Students with filmmaking experience or an interest in art and experimental methods and those working towards their ASoF Digital Video Certificate. Ages 16 and older.

About the Instructor: 
Hunter Shaw is a multi-media artist based out of Austin, TX. After creating several award-winning short films in his native Colorado, Hunter attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for film and television production. While majoring in Experimental Film, Hunter created works of varying length which combined traditional cinematic craftsmanship with a highly experimental aesthetic. A number of these pieces were exhibited at NYU, The Pratt Institute and The Grand Screen in New York. Since graduating, Hunter has worked as a freelance set dresser and fabricator in the Art Department on diverse independent features and music videos in New York and Austin, in addition to operating the production company and experimental record label Abject Renaissance.
