Puppet Fabrication


This double weekend creative workshop will go over the techniques of creating puppets for stop-motion animation. We will go over puppet design, amature building, foam and silicone build up, and final costuming. Learning the proper tools and safety of stop-motion is a necessity and by the end each student will walk away with their own puppet ready to animate. This workshop can also apply to non-animation puppets.

This course is instructed by guest artist Ambar Navarro from Los Angeles, California. This will be the only offering of this course this year.

Who Should Attend: People who want to learn more about stop-motion and the creation of puppetry for digital media.

ASoF Certificate: ASoF Digital Video Certificate Elective class

Prerequisites: Beginners welcome, all supplies included.

Tuition: $225.00 (24 hour course duration)

Instructor Bio:

Ambar Navarro holds a degree in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts. Her work ranges from crafty Stop-Motion to Installation and recently had her first solo show at the Demolden Video Project in Spain. Her work also includes miniature Set and Prop Building, Puppet Fabrication, CG, and creating digital works for the Internet. Born and Raised in San Antonio, TX,  Ambar now lives and works in Los Angeles. Her work has screened on PBS SoCal, KL!K Animation Festival, Wall Street Journal, YouTube Channel, and Vimeo Staff Pick.
