Special SXSW Operating Hours At Austin School of Film

We will be closed to the public this weekend, March 11th & 12th, for a SXSW Youth event. However, if you are a dedicated-desk INSPIRE member, or a private studio THRIVE member, you will still have normal, 24-hour access to the school.

SXSW hours for basic LEARN, and advanced CREATE members will be 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 13th to Sunday, March 19th. Normal operating hours will resume on March 20th, 2017.

The Austin School of Film's award-winning Youth Summer Film Camp is made up of intensive two-week courses that cover the fundamentals and creative aspects of filmmaking, animation, acting & directing, and editing. Students, ages 10 to 16, work with experienced filmmakers and animators to realize their creative visions and produce their own films by the end of each course. From developing the idea to planning the production process to screening the finished masterpiece, ASoF fully and quickly immerses the student into the wonderful world of filmmaking.

Final Cut Pro X: Beginner
Final Cut Pro X: Beginner

This hands-on course is designed for beginners who have little to no experience using Final Cut Pro X and/or editing film and video. This course covers basic non-linear editing techniques with Final Cut Pro X software through demonstrations, hands-on instruction; and footage provided by Austin School of Film. Students will learn how to work the Final Cut Pro X interface to cut, add and rearrange media, organize their browser, apply transitions, audio editing and creation, placing graphics and titling.
