Friends,

As we approach the end of 2011, we wanted to give you insight into what the Austin School of Film does each and every day—and why community support is so crucial to our vital mission. We are a small, 501c(3) non-profit operating in a very challenging economy. We rely on you to make it possible.

For A Better Tomorrow

As the first year-round digital film school for children in Austin, we help creative kids know they matter and can make a difference in the world through their hard work and talents. We do this via:

  • The highest level of digital arts education for underserved children who without us would have no access to the 21stcentury equipment and tools needed to compete in the modern world;
    • Support for the parents and families of children who are pursuing the digital mediums:
    • College application assistance, referrals and recommendations;
    • Parent networking;
    • Programs that have served an estimated 250 young people—and produced results:
    • Over 30 national award winning youth filmmakers, a top ten youth film school pick from HBO Family, and two HBO selected top ten youth filmmakers;
    • Free courses and production opportunities to Austin's underserved Latino and Hispanic youth through our Cine Joven program. Your support makes that possible.

    For A Better Today

    As a non-profit independent film, art, and technology center that supports every aspect of production from idea to distribution, the support of people like you ensures we can:

    • Continue to offer affordable tuition so that more have access to our classes and resources;
    • Attract and retain the best faculty and to pay artists a living wage;
    • Build on our track record of getting our students paying jobs;
    • Provide resources and support for emerging filmmakers/producers to get projects off the ground;
    • Sustain and build our course offerings, which have served more than 375 adult students in 2011:
    • Animation, Videogame, & Web Design
    • Software Training
    • Film & Video Production
    • Workforce Training
    • Digital Video Certificate Program

    Without the Austin School of Film there would not be a home for hundreds of creative digital artists, adults and children and especially a bricks and mortar home base, a real place with real people who share their passion for the story, imagination and the future of digital arts and media in the Austin.  We’re not just creating tomorrow’s filmmakers and production professionals—we’re equipping all manners of central Texans to compete and innovate for many years to come.

    Today, we are asking that you envision an Austin of today and tomorrow without the resources we offer—without the empowered minds and inspired hearts. How much is it worth to help us sustain and grow?
